We recently had the opportunity to ask Will some questions about himself and his work.

What do you like most and least about being an artist?
I am the boss, but cannot give myself a raise.

Who or what inspires your work?
I like drawing people. Paradoxically, very serious people make the best humorous illustrations. A sourpuss is more interesting than a smiling person.

A funny story is a joy to illustrate. I like to take some small phrase and extrapolate that into the most ridiculous scene I can imagine.

An editor once reprimanded me for upstaging the writer. I took that as the highest possible praise, second only to the check he later sent me.
