Cherie Hanson
Kelowna, BC
As a teacher for over twenty years, Cherie taught poetry, acting and English, particularly creative writing. She has taught at the University of BC, Western Washington University, Okanagan College and for a US Federal pilot program called Project Overcome. Now retired, Cherie is busier than ever, dedicated to her full time passion of creating art and writing free-lance.
Cherie’s artwork begins with a digital photograph and using software, manipulates her images as she describes, “to the point where I have a gut feeling that I am there. At this stage I paint into my abstract study of energy fields with acrylic paint, adding glass beads, paper, pigment flakes or just about anything I can get my hands on. My work shifts and has a different life in different light; intense, bold, a fluid movement that jumps off of the canvas with a three dimensionality.”
