River Lewis
Vernon, BC
River Lewis is a graduate of the Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design in Vancouver. His artwork has been exhibited in venues such as the Surrey and Richmond Art Galleries, as well as locally in the Okanagan Valley.
Work in digital and media arts includes computer and video projects as well as digital photography. Currently working as a photographer in the valley, and art instructor with the Arts Council of the North Okanagan, River finds inspiration in seemingly insignificant settings and materials including ditches, roadside garbage, communications wires. Poetry can spring from these overlooked subjects and manipulating the digital image gives opportunity for meditative consideration of the “bigger picture”. Explorations of the boundaries of development and interpersonal perception are key themes which flow through much of River's work in any medium.
