Lorrie Rich
Summerland, BC
Besides being busy with a young family, Lorrie, originally from Calgary, loves the beauty of the Okanagan valley and manages to make time to capture images of this inspirational area. Photography has been part of Lorrie’s life since she picked up her first camera over 20 years ago—it has evolved into a passion. She says, “I see photography as a way of journaling; I write using pictures and love dedicating my time to the art of digital photography. It is always a challenge to recreate a captured image and fine tune a personal perspective. I like to think of myself as “a personal life” journalist.” Her passion is not only in capturing images of people, places, and things but also in the enhancing, creative work in the digital darkroom: photo manipulation software is her "artist's palette".
Lorrie’s work includes weddings, families and the art of child photography. She has had opportunities to travel; doing commercial product photo-shoots, corporate events and has professionally worked with newspaper and radio personalities. A part of her travels has taken her to Nicaragua, doing professional photography for a Christian International Relief Organization; capturing the country’s heartwarmingly beautiful people and rich history in stunning landscapes, primitive tribal villages, tiny churches and sweeping coastlines.
